Applying For A Long-Stay Visa In Canada Is Easy Now

Anyone can apply for a Canadian visa for any reason. When you visit Canada, you use one of these documents to enter:

● Visitor visa
● An electronic travel authorization (eTA)
● A passport

If you wish to stretch your stay in Canada for a longer period, apply for a visitor record. A visitor record is not a visa but a document that gives you status as a Canadian visitor and allows you to stay longer. Besides, it has a new expiry date that you must leave Canada by. It does not guarantee that you can re-enter Canada.

How long can you stay in Canada will be determined by CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) at the time you reach the border. They will ask you a few questions and based on your answers, the maximum amount of time they can give you is 180 days (6 months).

Requirements To Extend A Visitor Visa

● Need to be living in Canada
● Need to hold a passport that will stay valid for the duration of your stay
● Need to pay the fee for form IMM 5708
● Need to ensure that other permits that you hold, study or work do not interfere with a visitor permit
